There are usually three groups for children and young people, from the ages of 3 -16 which begin about half an hour into the Sunday morning service. Parents of babies and very young children are invited to attend the youngest group where crèche toys are provided.
The groups help everyone to explore the Bible by using lots of creative activities, games, teaching and fun.
We have developed links with a number of local schools over many years, and contribute to leading assemblies on a regular basis. We are planning to start ‘Open the Book’ which provides scripted Christian, biblical assemblies for primary schools in the near future.
For many years we have run midweek groups for primary and secondary school children and young people during term time. The majority of those who come to the groups do not regularly attend church, but they enjoy taking part in activities such as cooking, craft, games, Christian teaching and the tuck shop. A lot of children start attending at a young age and continue through to 16. End of term parties and trips are arranged and all family members are invited to join in.
“Update 24th September 20156
The midweek youth groups have not yet started up for this academic year. We hope to start up soon and more details will be posted here in due course.”
As a church we have run an annual one-week themed holiday club for primary school children for over twenty years which has attracted up to 90 children per day.
In 2015, we were not in a position to run our usual Holiday Club, so during August we ran a Lunchbox Scheme for children from local schools. Volunteers have been helping out by welcoming the children and parents, making the lunches, packing the boxes and leading craft activities and games.
We have exchanged youth mission teams with First Baptist Church Woodway, Waco, Texas. In 2013 a team from Redcar spent 2 weeks on mission in Texas, and teams from Waco have made the return visit on alternate summers.
Safeguarding is our top priority at East Cleveland Baptist Church, particularly when working with young people. Click here for our policies.
