Pastors Paragraph

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” (Prov. 11:25)

This week a friend came into the office to chat, as part of the conversation we spoke about the effectiveness of our Christian witness. After talking around the subject for a while we concluded that for all the spectacular events, and programmes and projects we could put on and invite people to as a church that nothing could ever embody the love of Christ as much as simply taking the time to get to know and love and support an individual could.

This morning we’re talking about “Resourcing the Build”, a roundabout way of saying “we’re going to talk about money”!  But of course, building a healthy church and a healthy life has less to do generosity of finance than it has to do with generosity of love.  And to me, one of the best ways of demonstrating the love of Christ is by generously investing your time into them, making that phone call to see how they’re doing; taking them out for a coffee to let them offload; or by taking the kids off their hands for a few hours so they can have some “me time”!

It’s these small acts of generosity that demonstrate a love that words cannot, and it’s these acts that mean that the words you share about Christ carry all the more weight. Be generous with your time and you will find that you prosper!  Refresh others and you will find that you too will be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25.

Every Blessing,

Mark Hubbard
